Welcome to Bsupp("we," "our," or "us"). Bsupp is a Bible study platform that helps you grow in your faith through bite-sized lessons, quizzes, and daily streaks. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: When you create an account via our authentication provider (Clerk), we collect your name, email address, and profile photo.
  • Profile Data: Your display name and any profile information you choose to provide during onboarding.
  • Profile Photo:If you choose to set a profile picture, the app asks your permission to access your device's photo library so you can select an image. Only the single image you select is uploaded; it is stored by our authentication provider (Clerk). We do not access or upload any other photos.
  • Donation Information: If you make a voluntary donation, the payment is processed by Paystack. Your email address is shared with Paystack to issue a receipt. We do not receive or store your full card or banking details.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Study Progress: Lesson completions, quiz scores, streak counts, and study session timestamps to track your learning journey.
  • Device Information: Device name, platform (e.g. iOS or Android), and timezone (used for personalized notification scheduling).
  • Push Notification Tokens: If you opt in to notifications, we store your Expo push token (on mobile) or Web Push subscription (on the web) to send you reminders and encouragement.
  • Usage Analytics: On our website we use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool, to understand aggregate traffic and page performance. It does not use cookies or build advertising profiles, and it does not track you across other websites.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your location data.
  • We do not access your contacts, and we do not scan or collect photos or media beyond the single profile picture you choose to upload.
  • We do not use advertising trackers, ad networks, or cross-site/behavioral tracking. The only analytics we use is the privacy-friendly, cookieless website analytics described above.
  • We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Track your study progress, streaks, and achievements.
  • Send push notifications (daily reminders and re-engagement messages) — only if you opt in.
  • Personalize your learning experience.
  • Respond to your requests and provide customer support.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon (US-East region) and served through Vercel. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encrypted connections (TLS/SSL) for all data in transit.
  • Authentication via Clerk with secure session management.
  • Server-side API routes protected by authentication tokens.
  • Push notification endpoints secured with secret-based authorization.

5. Push Notifications

Bsupp offers optional push notifications to help you maintain your study habits. These include:

  • Streak Reminders: Scheduled locally on your device at your usual study time.
  • Morning Encouragement: A daily motivational message at 7:00 AM your local time.
  • Re-engagement:If you haven't studied in 3 or more days, we may send a gentle reminder.

You can enable or disable notifications at any time in the app's Settings screen. When you disable notifications, your push token is deactivated on our server and all local reminders are cancelled.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app's Settings screen; doing so immediately removes your account from our authentication provider (Clerk) and deletes your progress, streaks, and push notification tokens from our database. You may also ask us to delete your data by contacting us at the email below, and we will process your request within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

Bsupp is designed for users of all ages who wish to study the Bible. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data. You can delete your account and all associated data yourself at any time from the app's Settings screen, or by contacting us.
  • Opt out of push notifications at any time.
  • Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, which we will provide by email.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
